Questions renters ask

What size rug goes under a queen bed?

An 8×10 ft rug turned sideways under the bottom two-thirds of the bed is the usual best fit; a 6×9 or 5×8 is the minimum, depending on your room.

How much floor should show around a rug?

Leave at least 12 inches, ideally 12–18 inches, of bare floor between the rug and the walls.

Do I need a rug pad in a rental?

Yes. A non-slip pad stops sliding and helps protect rental floors from scratches and dye transfer. Pick one about 2 inches smaller than the rug on each side.

Is the result exact?

It's a guide based on common designer rules. Mark the rug outline with painter's tape before you buy.
