Not legal advice. Results are estimates based on common guidelines and manufacturer instructions, and we keep ratings on the conservative side. Check your lease, measure twice, and ask your landlord in writing when unsure.

Questions renters ask

Are Command strips really damage-free?

Usually, on smooth, fully cured paint, within the weight limit, and removed by stretching the tab slowly straight down. Textured walls, flat paint and fresh paint are where strips most often peel paint.

Are small nail holes normal wear and tear?

Often, but not always. It depends on your lease and your state. Fill and touch up small holes before you move out and photograph the result.

What should I do before decorating a rental?

Read the decorating section of your lease, photograph every wall on move-in day, and test any adhesive on a hidden spot for 48 hours.

Is this legal advice?

No. The checker gives general, conservative guidance. Your lease and state law decide what a landlord can deduct.
